What it takes to run a clothing brand- Musings, Journey and Tidbits from behind the scenes action! Ep. 2

It all started several years ago! A recent graduate of fashion school, I wanted to do what I had aspired for years on end to do: Start a Clothing Brand!
But like any other middle class person, my dreams couldn’t be backed by big bucks!
I still wanted to jump in but my parents, like any sane person, recommended me industry experience so I wouldn’t be jumping in blindly.
So I started looking for jobs: some just weren’t interested in me, while others wouldn’t be paying me enough to make it worth my while. Ultimately, when I did land a job, surprisingly, it wasn’t in the fashion sector! I was to be the social media manager for a big salon at the time. The job was different, and fun at that time! The remote job and flexible timings, even made the sad salary tolerable for a hot minute!
As time moved, and the work, life boundaries began to blur for the entry level job, the sad pay wasn’t worth the trouble for something that wasn’t ‘mine ‘ in the end. Ultimately, when the promised pay raise didn’t happen after I passed probation, and I was abused for bringing it up after several delays, I was ingloriously laid off!
Bitter and angry for slaving away for nothing, I slept the morning away.
But you will find, sometimes you need an impetus to drive to action and this was, in hindsight, exactly what I needed at that time.
Having had my fair share of jobs at that time, I decided to just do what my younger self had intended to do when I first enrolled into design school: make a fashion brand.
So what did I do next, with no funds and big dreams: stick around to find out!
