What it takes to run a clothing brand in Pakistan - Musings, Journey and Tidbits from behind the scenes action! Ep. 4

July 3, 2026

Walking into the office today, we had a sudden realization: the collection calendar we built with our team might have been a little over-ambitious. We had a momentary panic that we were already running late for the beautiful collections we have planned through mid-2027.
So, we sat down, took a deep breath, and created a more intentional, trimmed-down version of our calendar. We stuck to the core elements and ideas we knew we could beautifully execute without compromising on quality. The new plan is a perfect mix of experimental designs we are passionate about, alongside fresh additions to existing ranges like our beloved Modern Maharani (because we know how much you love a gracefully draped pishwas or a classic anarkali). This shift ensures our team isn’t overwhelmed and can still pour their absolute best into every single detail.

Small Wins and Perfecting the Details
The creative momentum actually picked up just before closing yesterday when a new fabric sample for our upcoming scarves arrived. It was exactly the vision we had in mind—summer-friendly, beautifully breathable, and effortlessly easy to drape.

Then, after lunch today, we reviewed the stitched samples for our new cotton co-ords. Seeing them on was such a relief; six of the nine fits are almost perfectly ready. The color palette is so grounding—nudes, earthy browns, and a rich russet that glows beautifully against desi skin tones—balanced with breezy summer shades of light blue, soft pink, and lilac.

Designing for 365-Day Comfort
Woven from organic cotton, these co-ords are designed to be truly seasonless. They offer 365-day comfort—light enough for hot, stuffy summers, yet the perfect canvas for layering under a jacket or sweater when winter arrives.
As a small business, we are often racing against the clock with limited resources. We are currently navigating sampling and production simultaneously just to catch up. But that tenacity is what drives us to be a brand our Pakistani patrons and the global South Asian community can deeply rely on.

Thoughtful Production & Inclusive Sizing
Because this is our first time venturing into everyday casuals with our Aangan range, we are producing in smaller, intentional batches. We are striving to be more mindful of our carbon footprint, creating meaningful designs with minimal wastage. We want the pieces you receive to feel extra special, crafted with undivided attention and care.
Our final task for the day is sitting with our production head to finalize fabric consumption and send the approved pieces off for dyeing. We are also perfecting our in-house measurements to ensure our silhouettes flatter everyone. From traditional farshi shalwar paired with short shirts, to medium lengths with culottes, and elegant long shirts, we are designing for a diverse range of heights and aesthetics. We are so proud to offer body-inclusive sizing from XS to XXL, ensuring everyone finds their perfect, comfortable fit.

This is what a day of building, adapting, and growing looked like at Tabassum today.
